Texas-Sized Luxury – The Four Seasons Hotel Houston

“It is good to have an end to journey toward; but it is the journey that matters, in the end.” – Ernest Hemingway

In this sense, I’m always on the lookout for the next journey – the next place. The older I get, the more I realize that to be static, is to hasten death. That may sound extreme, but you only need to look around you to realize that constant movement, learning, adjustment, and taking on new challenges, are all traits of people who live their best and fullest life.

I mention this because I had the occasion to visit the City of Houston, Texas recently, and the journey moved me in a most unexpected way. I had the fortune of staying at the Four Seasons Hotel Houston, and a luxurious front seat view of how Houston is undergoing rapid and significant change. Click Here to read more about this growth in Forbes.

The visit was inspiring because Houston is reinventing itself, and it’s the first time I’ve seen a city of this size pushing itself in one forceful motion to become something new. I know some people long for the old days, but life teaches us that change is both constant and necessary. My visit to the Four Seasons Hotel Houston underscored this lesson, and the importance of having goals, and a place where you want to go.

Entry

The Four Seasons Hotel Houston casts a grand and stately figure in the Houston Downtown. The property emotes luxury, including a classic brick exterior and gorgeous main entry.

Accommodations

We were most fortunate to enjoy a lovely suite, which featured luxurious appointments, natural stone, a sumptuous bed, and views and views. Just spectacular, and we didn’t want to leave our suite!

Water

One of the highlights of the property is most certainly the main pool. It’s interesting, some pools at luxury properties are not approachable or seem more piece of art than something to be enjoyed. The pool at the Four Seasons Houston forms the centerpiece of the hotel’s main deck, attracting guests and creating a vibrant, communal atmosphere. We spent much of our time enjoying the energy, the water, and the views.

Spa

I unfortunately did not have the opportunity to visit the Spa or to enjoy a treatment because the Spa is undergoing a $3M renovation which will include state-of-the-art Treatment Rooms, a Nail Room, Upgraded Locker Rooms and more. Dining

The signature restaurant of the Four Seasons Hotel Houston is Quattro, featuring authentic Italian cuisine by Chef Maurizio Ferrarese. You can learn more about Chef Maurizio by Clicking Here.

I’ve visited many luxury properties and their stellar signature restaurants, but this is the first instance where I feel absolutely compelled to discuss a Sunday Brunch offering. This is not to disparage in any way the Quattro Dinner Menu, which you can view by Clicking Here.

It’s simply that the Quattro Brunch is so exemplary that it demands an entry in this article. My wife and I were so impressed that we both believe that it’s the best brunch we’ve ever enjoyed, anywhere; and we’ve sampled high end brunches all over the world. The Houston Press named the Quattro Brunch the best in Houston in 2015.

When you enter the restaurant, there is little doubt that the Quattro Brunch is a cut above. I’ve never seen such a variety and quality of food displayed in one setting, including some over-the-top features like a Caviar Station, and hot food stations in the middle of a working kitchen. It’s really something quite spectacular to witness and experience. You can Click Here for more detail about the Quattro Brunch, and it’s making my mouth water! Here are a few (ok, a lot of) pictures:

Closing Thoughts

As you can see, our visit to the Four Seasons Hotel Houston was absolutely sublime. As I mentioned earlier, something very special is taking place in Houston. The pace of construction is astounding as hip new shopping areas, farm-to-table restaurants, and sleek apartment buildings are rising all across the city – and the enthusiasm is palpable as you walk through these new area. It’s quite liberating, and reminds you of the power that a city can have when everyone is moving in the same direction.

I highly recommend that you take the time to visit Houston, stay at the Four Seasons, and witness for yourself the energy and the vibrancy that the city is delivering to its guests and residents. You’ll be thankful that you’ve decided to keep moving through life, finding your purpose and seeing new places; and you’ll be encouraged to see that there are places that have their own plans to do the same.
