Old Town Luxury – The W Scottsdale

“In the middle of it, there’s joy” – Unknown

I live in Scottsdale, Arizona, and while I absolutely love to travel, there’s nothing quite like coming home. And every once in a great while, I am extremely fortunate enough to have the opportunity to visit and write about a hotel in my part of the world.  This summer, I was thrilled to finally visit the shimmering W Scottsdale.

Location

If you’re familiar with the City of Scottsdale, you likely know that its Old Town, is the place to be, be seen, cavort, revel, and have a seriously good time. If you’re visiting from out of town, and you seek to be in the middle of it all, the W Scottsdale is where you want to stay. Click Here to view the location on Google Maps. Accommodations

The W Scottsdale features an impressive array of accommodation options: 230 Guest Rooms, 33 Suites, 5 WOW Suites, and 1 Extreme WOW Suite. It’s splendid how the views vary depending upon the location of your room or suite. Here are some images of some of the different room types, courtesy of the W Scottsdale.

We received a lovely and inventive greeting in our suite called Paw Pack, which included doggy treats and toys. Our furries loved it!

Dining

The W Scottsdale offers a unique selection of Dining Options, including its signature restaurant Sushi Roku, the super-swanky Living Room, the open concept Shade Lounge, and the always electric Wet Pool Deck.

I visited Sushi Roku last September, and wrote a separate article, which you can read by Clicking Here. Sushi Roku offers an elegant, creative and sophisticated menu that expertly compliments the property’s ambiance and atmosphere. Click Here to view the Dinner Menu. We enjoyed an assortment of flavorful dishes:

Spa

The W Scottsdale features the Bliss Spa, which I unfortunately did not have the time to visit for a treatment. However, I did have the time to walk through, view the space, and soak in the environment. There are few things I enjoy more than experiencing a luxury spa, and simply walking through the Bliss Spa will make you wish you were sleeping in one of the spa suites. Here are some images of the Bliss Spa, courtesy of the W Scottsdale.

The Wet Pool

All of the above is quite luxurious to be sure, but let’s cut to the chase and talk about the property’s crown jewel, The Wet Pool – where the hip and the beautiful gather to see and to be seen. The Wet Pool is a less a pool area than a glistening wet stage for all manner of pleasure seekers – and it’s quite something to experience. Here are some images, courtesy of the W Scottsdale:

Whatever/Whenever

I love when properties offer clever and creative services, and the W’s Whatever/Whenever service is quite cool. Essentially, the service offers its guests the opportunity to make a variety of requests with the assistance of the W Insiders, and the property will deliver your items to your room (think sports tickets, specialty foods and beverages, clothing, etc.). I’m sure that the W Scottsdale has fielded some unique requests over the years, so don’t worry about getting creative with yours!

Closing Thoughts

One of my favorite qualities of Scottsdale is that for a relatively small city, there is a wide selection of restaurants, hotels, and attractions for all tastes. But if you want to really experience Old Town Scottsdale, you need to visit the W Scottsdale, grab a cabana and a cocktail, get your tan on, and let loose. There’s nothing quite like being in the middle of it all.

Thanks so very much to everyone at The W Scottsdale, especially to Paul, Jessie, Lila, and Anna on property. I would also like to thank Laura and Christina for making this visit possible, and for the use of some of your high resolution images!

Please take note that the hotel welcomed me as a special media guest, but that my opinions are, as always, entirely my own.

Thank you so very much for taking the time to read this article, and happy dining and traveling!
