“Realize deeply that the present moment is all you ever have” – Eckhart Tolle
Humans are drawn to the sea. Precious few of us reside in its powerful proximity, and we are therefore taken to daydream about future visits, and reminisce about those days where the tide reached out to meet our feet, and the sun warmed our face.
Located about 15 minutes from downtown San Diego, the Loews Coronado Bay Resort offers a secluded intimacy; surrounded by the San Diego Bay on all sides save for the slender boulevard that runs from the mainland.

Pets
We first learned of the property from a friend who visits each summer with her dogs, and I soon learned that the hotel is widely renowned for its exceptional treatment of your furry companions. I love this. I visit a number of luxury properties each year, and most properties either do not accept pets, or accept only small pets. Loews Coronado Bay Resort charges a $100 per stay fee, and limit the number of pets to two per room, maximum 40 pounds each. Click Here to read more about the Loews and its “Loews Loves Pets” program. Upon check-in, you’ll receive a guide with local pet-friendly destinations (beaches, parks, restaurants, hospitals, and grooming services); which is fantastic. Our dogs absolutely loved their time on property!
Accommodations
The property – crafted in a luxuriously laid back Beach-chic style – is cleverly designed to afford guests superlative views across its astounding 439 rooms and 37 suites. We enjoyed an airy and elevated corner suite, with lovely bay views, perfect for spying the many sailboats, paddle-boarders, and kayaks racing past our view. Water
If you love water, you’ve visited the right resort. Water abounds in many forms – the Bay, the beaches, and for those seeking a luxuriously controlled environment, the pools. I recommend an ample dose of all of the above.
This aerial image of the pool deck, courtesy of the resort, provides a sense for the grandeur of the property and its guest focus on a comfortable proximity to spacious and well-placed watery recreation.
Here are some images I captured, which show how the property is positioned to accentuate both the naturally occurring and expertly placed waters:

Dining and Cocktails
The Dining Offerings at the Loews Coronado Bay Resort expertly reflect the property’s location, and dedication to the comfort of its guests – including its pets as we took our dogs onto the deck and enjoyed a light dinner. If you’re looking for fresh seafood – which I most certainly was – Crown Landing was stellar, and they made it easy to take the food to the room.
You’ll also love Silver Strand Exchange, which the property calls its “on-resort commissary” where you can grab a coffee, a cocktail, a salad, sandwich, smoothies, and a variety of other items if you’re on the go. I loved this concept. Super easy and high quality.
For a small plate or cocktail (inside or on the deck), Cays Lounge spans a generous footprint to handle large or small parties. Again, very convenient, and the view on the Bay Terrace is quite beautiful. Here’s an image of the spectacular space, courtesy of the hotel:

Closing Thoughts
Travel is many things, but I believe that travel, at its best and at its core, is an opportunity; a chance to temporarily – yet meaningfully – set aside the bundle of challenges, fears, and annoyances that we all manage on a daily basis.
The Loews Coronado Bay Resort provides the opportunity to achieve a singular focus on tuning out the noise, and creating memories that will endure and reinforce all you know to be important – the people you care for the most. We are drawn to the ocean because it holds both our past and future memories. So visit the Loews Coronado Bay Resort; take the kids, the pets, the parents, whomever you cherish. And hit the beach, laugh, eat, rest, and let the sun warm your face, and nothing much else will matter.

Please take note that the Loews Coronado Bay Resort welcomed me as a special media guest, but that my opinions are, as always, entirely my own.
