Capitol Luxury – The Four Seasons Hotel Washington, D.C.

People don’t take trips — trips take people” – John Steinbeck

Our nation’s capital is replete with grand and stately, sometimes historic hotels, so when I recently visited, I had some difficult choices to make. But when I began to investigate further, it became quite obvious that a luxury travel blogger’s trip to Washington, D.C. is not complete without a visit to the incomparable and highly regarded Four Seasons Hotel Washington, D.C.

Location

Its six stories rising tall in crimson-colored brick, the Four Seasons Washington, D.C. features prominently in the historic and relentlessly elegant neighborhood of Georgetown. The property is a scenic and brief ride from Ronald Reagan International Airport. Click Here to view the property on Google Maps.

A particularly endearing quality of the property is its intimate engagement with the surrounding neighborhood, cultivating a bucolic sensibility. The hotel is outlined by cozy wine bars, neighborhood taverns, clotheries, bookstores, and coffee shops – a welcome contrast to the more populous and more commercially developed areas of the city.

Accommodations

The Four Seasons Washington, D.C. features 222 Rooms – 163 Guest Rooms and 59 Suites. The rooms are lavishly appointed in delicate sages and mauves, refined furnishings, and awash in natural stone. Here are two images, courtesy of the Four Seasons Washington D.C.

Dining

In a city where alliances are sought and coalitions are built, it is no surprise that the venues – and the perceived refinement of those venues – where Washingtonians dine are of the utmost importance. In this spirit, the Four Seasons Washington, D.C. offers a variety of polished eateries that offer its guests a multitude of environments to either conduct global business, or simply to unwind and enjoy a meal with family and friends.

The property’s signature restaurant is the highly regarded Bourbon Steak, a perfected mix of classic and contemporary steakhouse offerings. Seasons is the property’s light and stately breakfast and lunch spot, helmed by Executive Chef Doug Anderson – featuring a variety of traditional fare with opulent detailing. Click Here to view the Seasons Brunch Menu. The property also features a Wine Bar experience in the Eno Wine Bar, a lively and intimate Georgetown locale.

We had the fortune of dining at Bourbon Steak, which is directed by Chef de Cuisine Marc Hennessey, known for a his passion for sustainable farming and seasonal produce. Bourbon Steak offers both a resplendent dining area and a fashionably energetic Lounge. Click Here to view the extensive Dinner Menu. I would also like to make special mention of the restaurant’s inventive way of holding a diner’s To-Go food in a separate holding area, providing to you a Claim Check, and returning the food to you on your way out. Love this!!

Here are images of our experience, and special thanks to Assistant General Manager Jennifer for being so very lovely and helpful.

Spa and Pool

The Four Seasons Washington, D.C. features a luxury Spa, offering an array of classic and lavish treatments, including the option of personalizing treatments and packages. Click Here to view the Treatments Menu.

Along with an impressive fitness facility, the property also includes a most lovely indoor lap pool and jacuzzi; which are cast in white light emanating from a skylight. It’s a wonderful place to sit and unwind, in the water or not. Here are some images of that space:

Closing Thoughts

Washington, D.C. is one of my favorite cities in the world – the symbolism, the history, the majesty. It’s ours, and it’s more than a place; it is an idea, an aspiration of what makes us Americans – and proud to be so. And each time I return, I am increasingly grateful and thankful for being connected to this most special place.

Experiencing Washington, D.C. from the stately Four Seasons granted to me a new vantage point of the city I had visited so many times before, and a new appreciation for all that it has to offer. I highly recommend that you experience this property for yourself, and I suspect that you will wonder how you have ever stayed anywhere else.
